London Wasps vs Saracens 30.03.13

The prospect of a Premiership home semi-final at Allianz Park edges ever closer for Saracens as they completed another clinical victory, this time away to London Wasps, at the weekend.

A win in their next home match against Worcester Warriors on Sunday, April 14 could secure another sell-out blockbuster fixture at Allianz Park with Sarries now odds on favourites for a Twickenham showpiece final in May.

Saracens all-important win over their London rivals sees them four points clear of their closest challengers, Leicester Tigers. Tries from Chris Ashton and Chris Wyles helped the Men in Black come from behind to secure a 9-point win.

Mark McCall was delighted with another solid performance from his team, saying: “We’re delighted to have won here today, given Wasps home record. Where we have developed as a team in the last 12 months is how we deal with set-backs.

“The boys showed great resolve and they didn’t panic because they know that when we get going, we are capable of getting points on the board.”

McCall singled out Ashton for particular praise after his match-winning performance: “It wasn’t just his try. I thought he was absolutely brilliant and it was the Chris Ashton we were used to seeing two years ago, popping up all over the place, getting his hands on the ball, making breaks. He was hungry and energetic throughout.”
