What is home Emergency cover?

Home emergency cover is an extra level of cover you can add to your home insurance policy, to make sure you get extra quick assistance in an emergency. We will arrange for an approved tradesperson to come to your home and do the work needed as quickly as possible.

Home Emergency cover means we arrange and pay for approved tradespeople to help you in an emergency and then carry out repairs.

Home Emergency can be added to Allianz Online Home insurance as an optional extra - it offers protection if you have a home emergency. Home Emergency is included with our Allianz Online Gold Home Insurance.

There’s no excess and you’ll have up to £1,000 per emergency to cover call out fees, labour and parts.

When you add our emergency cover, you’ll be able to call us so we can let you know what to do in an emergency to help keep your home, and the people in it, safe.

If your home’s not fit to live in after an emergency, you’ll have up to £250 towards somewhere to stay for you, your family and any domestic pets.

What's covered with Home Emergency?

Home Emergency covers unexpected problems and failures but not routine maintenance (e.g. boiler servicing). Here’s an example of some of the issues covered:

  • Heating emergencies, like a boiler breaking down.
  • Plumbing emergencies, like water pipes bursting.
  • Unexpected roofing problems, like your tiles coming off during a storm.
  • Pest infestations, including wasps and rats.
  • Loss of your gas supply or electrical power.
  • Keeping your home secure, like fixing damaged windows and doors, and sorting the problem if your house keys are lost or stolen.

Home Emergency covers unexpected failures and problems but not routine maintenance costs. Here are some examples of things that aren’t covered:

  • Boiler servicing.
  • Taps leaking or dripping.
  • Replacing fixtures like sinks and toilets.
  • Single lights or sockets failing.
  • Wiring for phones, satellite/cable services or TV aerials.
  • Home security systems failing, e.g. alarms, cameras or monitors.
  • Damaged gates, fences, hedges or boundary walls.
  • Pest infestation if you fail to follow the approved repairer’s instructions for pest control/prevention.

Yes, you can add Home Emergency to your home insurance at any time in your online account.

Please note you will not be covered for Home Emergency if something has taken place before you have added on this  optional extra.
