Our corporate charity in the UK is the children’s charity Barnardo's, who are dedicated to help improve the lives of children, young people and their families.

Our employees run, walk, cycle, bake and do a variety of activities to help raise valuable funds for our charity partner – and then Allianz matches the donation.

Young people facing disadvantage have experienced huge employment challenges through the pandemic, which has been further exacerbated by the current cost-of-living crisis.

Today, over 300,000 young people in the UK do not have basic digital skills and 770,000 young people aged 16 – 24 are classed as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training); unable to get a job; or are trapped in an unbreakable cycle of disadvantage, isolation and poor mental health.

With the right support and opportunities to excel, these children can develop and build long-term careers. Together we will enable thousands of young people, classed as NEET to live, learn and work.

Allianz has a long term commitment to the global Paralympic movement and we are also proud to support the British Paralympic Association (BPA).

As well as managing ParalympicsGB, the British Paralympic Association's charitable activity champions grassroots para sport for children, young people and adults with disabilities.

The Petplan Charitable Trust (Registered Charity No.1032907) is funded by donations from Petplan’s customers. The Trust aims to promote the health and welfare of the nation’s animals, and awards funding to a host of well-deserved causes both in the UK and abroad. This includes research into new life-saving treatments for animals, to donations for animal rehoming charities which help them to continue giving pets a new start in life.

From 2019 to 2023, we had a great partnership with the mental health charity Mind and their sister charity in Scotland, SAMH.

Over the five years partnership, we raised £1.4m to support Mind’s work across the UK to develop greater mental health support services to help children and young people to build resilience.

Our commitment to human rights

All humans are entitled to basic rights and freedom. We recognise the importance of human rights, as both a value-based and a business issue. We see respect for human rights as a minimum standard for responsible business, both within and beyond our direct operations.

We regard respect for human rights as a minimum standard for responsible business. We are committed to:

  • Supporting and respecting the protection of international human rights.
  • Ensuring that Allianz is not complicit in human rights abuses.

The human rights that we are committed to respecting are those agreed by governments in:

  • The International Bill of Human Rights: this consists of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its two Optional Protocol
  • The core International Labor Organization (ILO) Conventions: these include the prohibition of child labor and forced labor; freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; occupational health and safety; and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Allianz has been a member of the U.N. Global Compact (UNGC) since 2002 and uses the UNGC principles, including protection of human rights and adherence to labor standards, as guide for its business activities.
