You can trust us to keep your renewal simple and we’ll always give you our best price at the first time of asking. That’s why we can’t reduce a renewal quote or offer any price matching services.

We always give you our best price at the first time of asking. That’s why we can’t reduce a renewal quote or offer any price matching services. This keeps things simple and means there’s no back-and-forth negotiating prices.

It’s easy to update or check your Allianz Online Home Insurance policy in your Allianz account. If you need a hand, our FAQs and how-to guides can help you make changes yourself 24/7.

If you run into any problems, just let us know by email. If you need to claim, head over to our home insurance contact us page. For everything else, it’s over to you.

There are no admin fees for making changes to your policy, but some changes can affect your premium. In other words, changing something on your policy can also change the price.

The only time you’ll have to pay an admin fee is if you cancel your policy, which costs £30.

If you’ve chosen to add our personal belongings cover, you may be able to claim.

It covers you for your personal items like handbags, jewellery and devices like mobile phones and tablets.

Good to know: your items will be covered no matter where you are in the world.

Personal belongings are already included up to £2,000 with our Allianz Online Gold Home Insurance policy. Items worth more than £2,000 will need to be specified on your policy.

You can add them to the personal belongings section of your contents insurance, which covers accidental loss or damage to your personal items (like jewellery, handbags, mobile phones, laptops and tablets). Your items will be covered anywhere worldwide.

The minimum level of cover we provide under personal belongings is £1,000 with no single item worth more than £2,000. Any item worth more than this will need to be specified on your policy.

Good to know: personal belongings are already included up to £2,000 with our Allianz Online Gold Home Insurance policy.

Laptops and mobile phones used in the home are automatically covered by our contents insurance.

If you’d like your laptop to be covered away from the home, you’ll need to add ‘personal belongings’ to your policy (this is already included up to £2,000 with our Allianz Online Gold policy). If the laptop’s worth more than £2,000 it will need to be listed separately.

We cover musical instruments in the home on all of our contents policies. If you need cover away from the home, please make sure you’ve included personal belongings cover on your policy.

Just so you know: this covers personal use only; if you play professionally, we won’t be able to cover your instruments.

We don't cover your items in storage unless you’re moving home and your policy is moving across to the new address.

If this is the case, a professional removals company can store your contents for up to 14 days during the move, and you’ll be covered as normal.

If you have contents cover, we'll insure battery-assisted bicycles, for example bicycles that have a battery and motor attached to help you cycle up hills. We won’t insure any bicycle without pedals.

Any bicycle with an individual value of £350 or more needs to be specified on the policy.

We provide cover for your bicycles in the home and you'll automatically get cover up to £350 for bicycles away from the home. This is limited to £350 in total for all of your bicycles.

You’ll need to list any bicycles and accessories worth over £350 in all.

A listed building is a property that’s of special architectural or historic interest which is graded by Historic England.

Subsidence is when the ground beneath your property sinks because the soil is unstable. We define it as downward movement of the ground supporting the building.

There's also another type of ground movement you may see highlighted in your home insurance documents… 'heave'. This is when the ground beneath your property swells and causes your property to move.

You may have heard people saying insurers use this term as a way of rejecting claims, but it’s actually not true.

An act of God refers to an event that was outside your control, like a natural disaster.

Did you know? The term ‘act of God’ isn’t used in insurance policies in the UK anymore. In fact, UK insurers don’t exclude losses or damage caused by natural disasters… so your cover will include things like fire, floods and earthquakes.

Yes. It’s important you tell your insurer about any work being carried out that could increase the risk of damage to your home or its contents. This includes having an extension built and any significant refurbishments made to your home.

You should also let your insurer know if the house is ever going to be left unoccupied for a more than 60 days in a row.

You don’t need to let them know about work going on inside the property like decorating or replacing fitted units (if you’re having a new bathroom or kitchen fitted, for example) unless you’ll be moving out of the property for a significant amount of time.

Find out more about insuring your jewellery and valuables.

We can cover an annexe as long as your main home is also insured with us. It would need to have the same postal address as your home and be occupied by a member of your family. We just need to update the total number of bedrooms and bathrooms at the property to include the annexe.

If it has a separate postal address, is completely detached from the main home or is lived in by someone that’s not a member of your family, we won't be able to cover it.

Your Allianz Online Home Insurance isn't designed to cover the cost of maintaining your home – it's for one-off events like a storm, fire, flood or theft.

Home insurance doesn't cover wear and tear to the actual fabric of your house.

For example, your roof can start leaking for a number of reasons. The leak might appear unexpectedly - or something might happen and you notice the water coming in. You might assume your insurance covers a leaky roof - but often it’s due to wear and tear, which would mean you’d need to pay for any repairs yourself.

You can prevent wear and tear from becoming a bigger problem by carrying out checks and maintaining your home regularly.

As the owner or resident of your home, public liability insurance covers you when you’re being held responsible to a person or property.

For example, our buildings insurance covers you as the homeowner for claims such as a tile falling off your roof and injuring a visitor.

You’ll find the full terms and exclusions in our document of insurance.

‘New for old’ means your insurer will replace your lost or damaged belongings with new items of the same type and quality as the originals, or they’ll pay you the amount it would cost to replace them.

Allianz Online Home Insurance covers your hearing aids in the home for insured events such as fire, theft and flood.

However, they're not covered for accidental damage or loss in your home (or garden) unless you've added our optional extras or have Allianz Online Gold cover. So take care and keep them somewhere safe when you're not using them.

Enhanced accidental damage cover is already included with Allianz Online Gold and can be added as an optional extra on Allianz Online Silver and Bronze policies.

We also offer an optional extra called personal belongings away from home. This covers possessions like hearing aids when you take them out and about, and also if you lose them in your home or garden.

It's included with Allianz Online Gold, and available as an optional extra on Allianz Online Silver and Bronze policies. Any items worth over £2,000 will need to be specified on your policy.

Yes, you need to tell us if you have any valuable items that, individually, are worth more than £2,000, even if they don't leave your home. Examples of valuable items include jewellery, watches, furs, items made of gold, silver and other precious metals, pictures/paintings and other works of art, as well as stamp, coin and medal collections.

Although some belongings like your TV and sofa may be expensive to replace, these are covered as standard under your contents insurance policy, so you don't need to specify them as a 'valuable item' when you get a quote.

Your Allianz Online Home Insurance provides cover for money in your home – check your policy documents to see the limit that applies.

If you want to cover any cash you have on you when you’re away from home, you’ll need to add our personal belongings cover.

Top tip: We don’t cover cash that belongs to your business.

With our contents cover, we'll pay 50% of the cost to replace any undamaged item if it’s part of a matching set.

For example, if your sofa’s water damaged and unrepairable, we’ll replace it and give you 50% of the cost towards a matching armchair.

Your Allianz Online Home Insurance isn't designed to cover the cost of maintaining your home – it's for one-off events like a storm, fire, flood or theft.

Home insurance doesn’t cover wear and tear. Your house, and the things you buy to make it a home, will all get bumps, dents or scuffs and wear out from use over time. For example, if your washing machine starts to make a funny rattle when it’s on the spin cycle, you won’t be able to claim for a new one.

You can prevent wear and tear from becoming a bigger problem by carrying out checks and maintaining your home regularly.

As the owner or resident of your home, public liability insurance covers you when you’re being held responsible to a person or property.

Our contents insurance covers you and your family as the occupiers of the property and would cover things like a visitor tripping up over a loose rug.

Under contents insurance we also cover your personal liability for claims such as accidentally poking someone in the eye with your umbrella.

You’ll find the full terms and exclusions in our document of insurance.

With contents insurance, you need to tell us if you have any valuable items that, individually, are worth more than £2,000, even if they don't leave your home.

Yes, you can add or remove your buildings or contents cover at any time in your Allianz account. If you need a hand, our how-to guides and how-to videos can help you make changes yourself 24/7.

You'll need to let us know the type of work carried out from your home so we can let you know if any additional terms apply.

Clerical work from the home would be classed as 'Office use without visitors' and you should still tell us about it. This could include secretarial tasks, for example, and duties like typing, emailing, answering phone calls and taking messages.

An example of ‘other business use’ would be if you run a beauty therapy business from your home or you have a room for tutoring.

You should also let us know if you work from an outbuilding, such as a detached garage.

We can cover you to use your home for occasional paying guests (including Airbnb), as long as you tell us when you get a quote or during your policy.

The following conditions also apply:

  • The property continues to be your main home where you normally live.
  • Rooms aren't rented out for more than 60 days a year.
  • No more than 4 guests stay at any one time.
  • No more than 2 bedrooms are used by guests.

Please note: This cover is not automatically included – you’ll need to tell us about your paying guests during your quote or update your policy to make sure you’re covered

We may be able to cover you if you have lodgers at home, as long as you tell us when you get a quote or during your policy.

Whether or not we can offer cover depends on:

  • The number of lodgers.
  • The number of bedrooms at your property.
  • How long the lodgers are staying.

Please note: This cover is not automatically included – you’ll need to tell us about your lodgers during your quote or update your policy to make sure you’re covered.

Allianz Online Home Insurance covers blocked drains or pipes up to the building’s ‘sum insured’ on the policy.

'Trace and access' covers the cost of removing and replacing any part of the building to find the source of a water or oil leak from any fixed tank, appliance or pipe causing damage.

It doesn’t cover the cost of repairing the tank, appliance or pipe itself.

Compare our home insurance policies to find out which level of cover is best for you.

With our buildings cover, if you get a burst pipe at home, we'll do everything we can to put things right.

To make a claim, please call our claims team on 0330 678 5015

If you have contents cover, we'll cover damage to your belongings, such as sofas and carpets, caused by water leaking from a fixed tank, appliance or pipe.

If you have buildings cover, Allianz Online Home Insurance covers damage caused to your home by water leaking from any fixed tank, appliance or pipe. We'll also pay up to £5,000 (with Allianz Online Bronze and Silver) or £10,000 (with Allianz Online Gold) for the cost of removing and replacing any part of the structure of your home to find the source of the leak so repairs can be carried out.

No, this wouldn’t be covered under our policy however we may provide cover under ‘Enhanced accidental damage’.

Allianz Online Home Insurance is for one-off events like a storm, fire, flood or theft so it’s possible you’d be covered for a leak in your roof if the damage was caused by one of these things.

What home insurance typically doesn’t cover is the cost of routine maintenance needed to keep your home in a good condition. In other words, if the damage is caused by gradual wear and tear over time, you wouldn’t be covered.

A leaky roof can be caused by any number of things and you can reduce the problem by looking after it properly, having it checked regularly and keeping it in good working order.

An excess is the amount you have to pay towards a claim yourself.

When getting a quote for Allianz Online Home Insurance, you’ll be asked to select how much excess you’ll be willing to pay when making a claim, For most claims, our policy sets a minimum excess of £150, which can be increased up to £500 in exchange for a lower premium.

Yes, you’ll have to pay the excess that applies. The amount will vary depending on the type of claim.

Starting your Allianz Online Home Insurance claim online is simple and convenient. There's no waiting in line and you can do it in your own time.

Once we have all the details, it’s over to us. We’ll keep in touch regularly to let you know what's happening and may send suppliers to inspect any damage or handle the claim on our behalf.

Yes, we use approved tradespeople and suppliers across the UK to inspect damage or replace goods on our behalf. Better still, any repairs they undertake are guaranteed for 12 months.

If you'd prefer to use your own tradesmen for repairs, you must get in touch with us before doing so.

Once you've logged your claim online, you can relax. We take care of everything.

We make the process quick and hassle-free. Our dedicated claim handlers will support you through the process and we can organise all repairs or replacements.

We'll often get costs for the repairs for you. If we ask you to get a quote for your home insurance claim, we'll explain if one estimate will be enough or if we need two.

We can arrange for emergency assistance or repairs for you by answering a few simple questions and submitting your request online.

If you claim on your Allianz Online Home Insurance, your premium could increase at your next renewal. It all depends on the type of claim and how many claims you've made.

The price of your home insurance is more likely to be affected by the number of claims we receive as a whole. We settle thousands of home insurance claims every month.

If the number goes up, due to things like increased accidental damage claims or extreme weather events - this could mean the costs to insure your home may go up, which will be reflected in your price.

Your home insurance premium is calculated on an individual basis. We’ll let you know your price in your renewal invitation, which is sent about three weeks before your renewal date.

Find out more about how we calculate the price of your home insurance.

If you decide not to proceed with your claim before we've replaced any items or sent out a tradesperson, your claim will not affect your renewal premium.

If you have enhanced accidental damage cover, you can claim on your Allianz Online Home Insurance to repair or replace a damaged sofa. This is for things like spilling a cup of coffee on a cream suite. Our Gold policy includes this cover as standard.

Good to know: our Allianz Online Home Insurance covers your sofa for damage caused by things like fire and flood automatically.

Underinsurance is when your home insurance policy doesn’t fully cover your buildings and contents up to their true value.

This can happen if you underestimate what your property or your belongings are worth when you get a quote.

To get the right level of cover, you need to make sure your ‘total sum insured’ is enough to cover everything. If not, you might underpay for your premium, leaving your home underinsured.

If this happens and you make a claim, you may have to cover some of the costs yourself.

It’s important your total sum insured is enough to rebuild your home and for all your belongings, or a claim may be rejected. In some circumstances, your policy could be cancelled or considered null and void.

Your documents should be available on your renewal day once your payment has been taken.

To view them, log in to your Allianz account and click the documents icon. This will bring up your policy documents and document of insurance, which you can also download as a PDF.

Yes, you can manage multiple policies for your home and cars under the same account.

If you already have a policy with us, log in to your Allianz account and select the 'our products' tile to see what we offer and start a new quote.

While we don't insure properties that have suffered from a flood or are under a current flood warning, our friends at Gallagher might be able to help.

You can get in touch with them about their specialist insurance on 0333 188 7823.

Yes, we need to know what material your home’s made from to help us calculate the price of your insurance.

For example, homes with a timber frame or an asphalt roof have a higher risk of catching fire, so may cost more to insure (if we’re able to insure the property at all).

Yes. If you own your home but you’re not sure when it was built, you should be able to find out in your mortgage valuation, homebuyers report or any other documents relating to the purchase of the property.

If you still don't know, please use your best estimate.

We always base our policies on the original date of construction.

For example, if your property was built in 1890 but the conversion means the majority of the property was built in 1990, we would still record 1890.

Yes, we can offer a quote as long as you know all the details, but we can only insure the property from the date you actually exchange contracts.

Check out our handy article about the buying and selling process.
