Shaping tomorrow, together:
The Allianz Sports Fund

Working in partnership with our brokers, the Allianz Sports Fund provides funding to grassroots sports clubs across the country.

As the Worldwide Insurance Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, we understand the power of sport. So far we have pledged £300,000 to the Allianz Sports Fund and have supported over 180 clubs deliver sports programmes in their communities.

Allianz broker partners have the unique opportunity to nominate a sports club which is important to them for funding. Applications should only come from clubs which have been nominated by one of our broker partners and that take part in an Olympic or Paralympic sport. 

 

And, as it’s officially an Olympic and Paralympic year, we want to kick of the celebrations by organising an Allianz Sports FunDay for one of the successful clubs in the first round of the Allianz Sports Fund 2024.

We want to bring the magic of the games right to the club which submits the strongest application. All they need to do is invite the guests, and we’ll do the rest! We’ll bring music, decorations and maybe a familiar face from TeamGB/ParalympicsGB to run some sporting sessions with your club.

If the sports club that you are nominated would like to experience Allianz Sports FunDay as well as a grant, all they need to do is fill out the application form and make sure they let us know in the final box why we should bring the Allianz Sports Fun-day to them. It will then be down to the Sports Fund panel made up of employees and also representatives from TeamGB and Paralympics GB to choose the winner.

Key information for brokers

The first round of the Allianz Sports Fund 2024 is now closed.

All applicants will be notified of the status of their application on Friday 5 April 2024.

£40,000 is available in this round and will be granted in awards from between £500 and £3,000. In addition, for clubs who select this option and are eligible for a grant, one Allianz Sports FunDay is available to win.

Applications will only be accepted from clubs who have been nominated by one of our independent brokers including Broker Partners,  Accelerator, Prime Partners.

Connecting brokers and clubs

Southampton Diving Academy were nominated for funding by Kerry London LTD. The club applied for funding to replace their TiVo system, a specialist piece of hardware used in the pool to record and play back dives.

The club said “This is invaluable as divers are able to listen to coach feedback whilst seeing themselves in action.”

What you need to know

Who can apply?

Any sports club that:

  • has been nominated by a broker partner of Allianz Insurance plc*
  • takes part in an Olympic or Paralympic sport* - view list of current olympic and paralympic sports
  • is registered with their sports National Governing Body
  • has an official bank account registered in the club's name

You will need to satisfy all four requirements in order to be eligible to apply.

What type of funding can clubs apply for?

The Allianz Sports Fund has been developed to help sports clubs meet their obligations and continue to provide opportunities within their local community.  This may include, but not limited to: 

For the club

  • Cost of changes to service or facilities due to COVID-19
  • Facility Hire i.e. block bookings.
  • Rent/lease payments
  • Heat
  • Light
  • Utilities
  • Water Rates
  • Grounds/facility maintenance (to maintain a state of readiness)
  • Sport’s Governing Body membership fees 
  • Clubs league affiliation fees. 

For its members

Club Fees: Club membership fees. A club could partially reduce fees for all club members or pay entirely for members of the club who are at financial hardship. This should be allocated discreetly by the club themselves.


Sports Travel: Travel costs towards participating in matches/events.


Playing Kit: Playing kit. A club could partially reduce the cost of kit for all club members or pay entirely for members of the club who are at financial hardship. This again should be allocated discreetly by the club themselves.

 

This is not an exhaustive list and the Allianz Sports Fund will consider other ways to utilise the funds, which we ask that clubs specify on the application form.

What isn’t eligible for funding?

This fund is designed to help grassroots sports clubs. This means we're not able to help the following organisations:

  • Local authorities, including town and parish councils 
  • Schools, colleges and universities
  • Commercial sport and physical activity providers, e.g. private gyms 
  • Leisure operators
  • Individuals who are either employed or self-employed within the sport and physical activity sector.
