The virtual learning series provides a basis to further explore and consider key industry issues ahead of the Leadership Futures workshop.

Please watch each video and reflect on the accompanying questions.

AI in general insurance

The learning objectives of this session are to provide insights into:

  • AI fundementals, practical applications and emerging trends
  • the regulatory landscape, key AI-related legislation and compliance challenges
  • best practices for responsible and compliant AI use including governance, risk management, and ethical considerations.

Personal reflections

While watching, consider:

  1. How might emerging AI trends influence the way you advise/sell general insurance products?
  2. How confident are you in identifying and interpreting AI-related compliance requirements? What support or resources might you need?
  3. How are your team using AI? Can you identify any potential ethical risks in your team's use of AI? How might these be mitigated?
  4. What skills or knowledge do you need to develop further to engage confidently with AI in your role?

Navigating regulatory supervision

The learning objectives of this session are to provide insights into:

  • the regulatory framework and FCA supervisory approach
  • embedding a culture of compliance and how to navigate common regulatory challenges
  • strategies for managing regulatory expectations and tools for effective regulatory engagement
  • robust compliance monitoring and reporting systems.

  1. What regulatory developments could significantly impact your brokerage's operations? How prepared are you to respond?
  2. How can you model and reinforce behaviours that align with the Consumer Duty principles?
  3. How confident are you in leading your team(s) through complex regulatory challenges? What support or developing might be needed?

ESG and insurance: the challenges and opportunities

The learning objectives of this session are to provide insights into:

  • the unique relationship between Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) fundementals and general insurance
  • some of the key challenges and opportunities facing the insurance sector both from an insurer and broker perspective
  • practical strategies to consider.

  1. Which ESG trends do you see having the greatest impact on your clients or your business model in the next 2-3 years?
  2. How can you influence your organisation's culture to prioritise ESG without compromising commercial goals?
  3. What role can you play in helping clients understand and respond to ESG risks and opportunities?

Mental wellbeing in the workplace

The learning objectives of this session are to provide insights into:

  • a deeper understanding of mental health as a dynamic continuum, including distinguishing between stress, burnout, and performance pressure
  • managing digital overload and everyday micro-stressors
  • applying practical, evidence-based wellbeing strategies to foster a culture of psychological safety and support
  • inspiring meaningful action and systemic workplace change.

While watching, consider:

  1. How do you currently recognise the difference between stress, burnout, and performance pressure in yourself and your team?
  2. What changes could you make to reduce micro-stressors for yourself and your team?
  3. How can you intentionally shape a psychologically safe environment that encourages open conversations about mental health, whilst still maintaining high performance expectations?
