Cover for when you need it

Our temporary cover policy covers instruments that you might not usually have insured, or have borrowed from a friend or retailer.

You can use temporary cover for whatever you need it for. Some of the most common uses include: touring, school trips, one-off events, approval cover, and transporting items that are on a premises only policy, for example, when you move house. Whether you’re borrowing an instrument from a friend or an organisation you can relax knowing  that their valuable instrument is covered while in your trust. You don’t need to be an existing customer to take out temporary cover. 
 
Our temporary cover can only be arranged by speaking to our customer service team. You can select the level of cover you need and ask our team any questions you may have.

Cover highlights

Theft, loss, fire and accidental damage

No matter how careful you are with your instrument, accidents are unavoidable – and nobody can help being the target of theft. If the worst ever happens, we’ll be there to help you get back to playing

Unlimited professional use

We'll cover you if you play music as either a professional or semi-pro, whether that's touring with your band or getting paid for performing with an orchestra.

Damage in transit

If your instrument or equipment gets damaged while on the move, whether that’s on tour or heading to rehearsal we’ve got you covered.

Loan instrument hire costs

We know that for many musicians, being without an instrument for any length of time simply isn’t an option. With our loan hire cover, you’ll always have something to play if your own instrument is lost or damaged.

Free cover for £500 worth of accessories

You’ll automatically get up to £500 cover (each valued between £10-£250, with a per claim limit of £500) for musical accessories and anything else you use to play your instrument.

Depreciation after a repair

If after a repair, your instrument has reduced in value due to the damage, we’ll cover your instrument for the amount it has reduced by.

Public liability cover from less than £40 a year

Our Public Liability and Personal Accident insurance for musicians playing anywhere in the UK is available as an add-on to your policy.

Also known as third party liability and personal liability, public liability cover protects you against the cost of a claim if someone is injured or damages property while you’re using your equipment or instruments.

Available in 3 different levels:

  • £1 million public liability + £10,000 personal accident cover
  • £2 million public liability + £10,000 personal accident cover
  • £5 million public liability + £10,000 personal accident cover

Unlimited – we can cover almost any type of musical instrument, regardless of how valuable it is. However, our website is limited to £30,000 for any one instrument. If your musical instrument is worth more than £30,000, or your collection is worth more than £50,000, just give us a call on 0330 100 9903.
Yes. We will just need an email or a letter from the instrument’s owner to confirm that you will be responsible for any damage to the instrument.
Absolutely – and we offer discounted policies if your group is insuring multiple instruments together. Give us a call on 0330 100 9903 to discuss special rates.
