Our Special Engineering Services is a catch-all term for our range of enhanced, bespoke engineering solutions for our customers, beyond our regular, statutory inspection services.

Businesses often need more specialist support, from one-off inspections and testing, to expert consultancy and training. Our Special Services help our customers preserve the safety and compliance of their operations with solutions tailored to their exact specifications.

Our Special Services include (but are not limited to):

  • Technical site compliance audits across your estates
  • Specialist inspection services, including COMAH inspections, storage tank inspections and TM44 air-conditioning inspections
  • Non-destructive testing to verify the integrity of your plant and machinery
  • Vertical transport and lift consultancy, project management and condition surveys
  • Reviews for repair proposals connected to your pressure systems
  • Regulatory awareness training for your in-house maintenance teams
  • Energy and environmental services to improve the efficiency and hygiene of your workplaces
  • Meticulous risk assessments for your plant, machinery and equipment
  • Written Schemes of Examination (WSEs) that outline the inspection requirements for all equipment
  • Tagcheck – our dedicated tagging system that gives you total clarity over the inspection status of your equipment

Our core Inspection Services are an ongoing legal requirement for businesses that employ the following categories of plant, machinery and equipment:

  • Lifts and lifting equipment
  • Electrical equipment (including EV charging points and Solar PV systems)
  • Pressure systems
  • Power presses
  • LEV equipment.

These are dictated by the regulations behind every piece of equipment.

Our Special Services are typically one-off services or solutions to address specific projects, issues or challenges. These are tailored around each customer’s particular needs and circumstances.

Unlike our Inspection Services, which are dictated by the regulations behind every piece of equipment, we produce unique scopes of work for each of our Special Services.

This means that every detail in the scope of work is tailored to the specifics of your request, problem or project. As a result, no two are exactly alike – they are completely bespoke for your exact requirements.

Our Special Engineering Services are performed by either our Specialist Engineers, our highly trained engineer surveyors or our wider network of approved, audited subcontractors and business partners.

Our combination of technical expertise and experience means we can devise and execute solutions for a wide range of needs and projects.

Our nationwide network of subcontractors and technical partners – including NDT practitioners and energy assessors – help deliver our service offering while delivering the highest standards of care, precision and technical understanding.

Whether it’s our highly qualified engineer surveyors, specialist engineers or our experienced business partners, we’re committed to providing you with engineering services that are second to none.

We only work with the best. Our business partners must be suitably accredited in their chosen field and go through a thorough due diligence programme to verify their quality, ensuring great, dependable service for our customers.

Yes. With our comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of all health and safety regulations, we can train your on-site maintenance teams to bring them up-to-speed with their day-to-day responsibilities.

With our support and guidance, we can help ensure your in-house teams are taking all necessary steps to keep your operations safe, efficient and compliant.

Tagcheck is our innovative, cost-effective series of tagging systems for your plant, machinery and equipment, highlighting their most recent inspection date and current inspection status. Tagcheck helps you:

  • Minimise potential accidents by making staff aware of what plant has been inspected and what plant hasn’t.
  • Enhance your existing health and safety procedures.
  • Reassure site staff that your equipment has been satisfactorily inspected.

All TagCheck markers are clear, durable and waterproof. They do not interfere with the operation of equipment and are suitable for a wide range of plant and machinery. Our TagCheck solutions are available as:

  • coloured tags
  • aluminium discs with dated labels
  • standalone dated labels
  • coloured bands
  • inspection stickers
  • coloured wire tags.

Key benefits of conducting risk assessments for your plant and machinery include:

  • Accident prevention: They identify potential hazards early, reducing the risk of injury to workers.
  • Regulatory compliance: They help meet legal and industry safety standards, avoiding fines or shutdowns.
  • Equipment longevity: They detect issues before they cause serious damage, extending machinery life.
  • Operational efficiency: They minimise unplanned downtime by addressing risks before they disrupt production.
  • Cost savings: They reduce repair costs, compensation claims and insurance premiums.
  • Improved safety culture: They encourage proactive maintenance and risk awareness among staff.

You need a Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) whenever you operate pressure systems or equipment that fall under the UK Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR). This typically applies to boilers, air receivers, autoclaves, and certain refrigeration plant (among others).

A WSE is required before the system is first used, and it sets out the parts of the system to be examined, the nature of the examination, and the intervals between examinations. The requirement is there to ensure that safety-critical components are inspected at appropriate times to prevent dangerous failures.

Yes, our Special Services, like our core statutory inspections, are available to customers across the entirety of the UK and Ireland.

As each of our Special Services is bespoke to each customer, the process will depend on the specific needs and circumstances.

When you contact us about one or more of our Special Services, we will work closely with you to understand your business and your requirements, and collaboratively develop a unique scheme of work that will detail everything that will happen as part of your service.

Working together, we will deliver a service that fulfils your key obligations and causes the least disruption to your business operations.

Don’t worry if you don’t see your required service above. With a comprehensive range of distinct engineering services, we know that whatever problem or demand you present to us, we have the depth of expertise and technical knowledge to find your ideal solution.
