I have always worked in large corporations, and Allianz ticked all the boxes for me; a well-respected company, highly competent people and a new challenge.

I developed my knowledge and experience, became a qualified professional in the area of Quality and Health & Safety, and was called upon to use those transferable skills in a variety of positions before beginning my career with Allianz.

When I first joined the Allianz Engineering Department at a mere 20 years old as a temp, I didn’t envisage still being here many years later.

Not only have I gained a huge amount of confidence and knowledge, but I feel very lucky to work with such a diverse range of very experienced and skilled individuals. What I love about my job is that the work within engineering is ever-changing, and no two days are ever the same.

There are also some great development opportunities, and I don’t think I will ever look back or get bored with the Engineering Department.

In 1987 I joined AEIS on a three-month temporary basis; to think I would be here nearly 40 years later never entered my head. Allianz has supported me fully throughout my career journey and continues to do so, providing so many opportunities along the way. It’s such an exciting place to work with no two days the same.

I’ve set up teams, onboarded staff, led teams and projects, and provided face-to-face training for our newest recruits. Allianz provides so many opportunities to develop yourself, which in turn benefits our business. It’s all about change, inclusivity and providing a great place to work.

Even though engineering is a very male-dominated field, I was welcomed into Allianz’s surveying family as any other employee would.

From the moment I arrived for my interview, everyone I met was so friendly, and would talk about how long they’ve been with the company, which for some was over 20 years. I left thinking that this was the company I wanted to work for, and that hasn’t changed over six years later.
