Renewing your car insurance

Here’s everything you need to know about renewing – depending on the type of policy you have:

An Allianz Online policy is online-only, which means you manage it yourself in your account.

Not sure which policy you have? The car insurance tile in your Allianz account will have an ‘Allianz Online’ badge in the top right.

An Allianz Online policy shows a dark blue 'Allianz Online' badge in the top right corner.

Your policy number will start with FL.

Your renewal

About a month before your renewal date, we'll email to let you know:

  • Your price for next year.
  • Details of your cover and the car insured.
  • Who can drive the car.
  • Any optional extras you've chosen.
  • A schedule showing your and any named drivers' driving history.

Review

We'll ask you to log in to your account to check your new insurance documents and make sure everything's correct.

Make changes

If the cover's not right for you or something needs updating (payment card, named drivers, mileage, optional extras...) select 'your renewal, make changes' in your account. Remember, making a change can also change your price.

Payment

  • Automatic renewal:
On your renewal date, we'll take your payment using the details you provided. And that's it! We'll have you covered for another year.

Want to change how you pay or opt out of auto renew? You can do this in your account  up to 4 working days before your renewal date.
  • Non-automatic renewal:
When you're happy to continue, click the 'renew' button.

On  your renewal date, we'll take your payment using the details you provided and we'll have you covered for another year.

You can check if you're on an automatic renewal by logging in to your Allianz account:

  1. Select 'account details'.
  2. Click 'edit renewal preferences'.
  3. Check to see if you’re on automatic renewal or not.

Here’s how to switch off automatic renewal in your Allianz account:

  1. Select 'account details'.
  2. Click 'edit renewal preferences'.
  3. Select the option 'I do not want to renew.'

If the option to renew automatically isn't selected, then you don't need to do anything – your policy’s not set to auto renew.

Our other type of policy is simply called Allianz – it comes with call centre support and the ability to do certain things online.

Not sure which policy you have? The car insurance tile in your Allianz account will have an ‘Allianz’ badge in the top right.

An Allianz policy shows a light blue 'Allianz' badge in the top right corner.

Your policy number will start with a 2 or 3. These were LV= policies before March 2026.

You'll find proof of your no claim discount (NCD) in your renewal pack. Allianz Online customers can view and download this in your online account 30 days before your renewal date. Allianz customers will have recieved your renewal pack by post or email.
