Allianz employees raise funds for Mind with Stronger Together challenge

Posted: 31 July 2020

Over the past two months, the ‘Stronger Together’ challenge has provided employees with a way to stay connected and motivated during lockdown. Using an app teams have been logging their fitness activities to compete for prizes and earn charity points, which raise funds for Mind. Exercising employees mentally and physically the activities have ranged from socially distanced runs to indoor activities such as squat and plank mini challenges and even energetic housework.

Almost 900 Allianz and LV= General Insurance colleagues took part in the campaign, together covering a total distance equivalent to 3.5 times around the world.

Carolyn Rich, Head of Brand Management and Social Responsibility, Allianz Insurance, said: “We’ve had such an incredible response to our Stronger Together challenge and I’m really proud of what has been achieved. In the current environment, it’s really important that we support the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees, so I’m really delighted that this campaign has bought benefits to so many colleagues.  The fact that at the same time we have raised a sizeable donation for our charity partner Mind is brilliant.”

Allianz is also giving employees the opportunity to continue their fitness journeys with a new challenge.  In July the Allianz Group launched it’s global ‘World Run’ campaign, where colleagues all over the world will compete to achieve the most miles or take part in a digital workout challenge, supporting the global charity SOS Children’s Villages in the process.

Rich added: “After the fantastic response we had to Stronger Together, I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together in the UK to support this fantastic global initiative.”

Emma Ihsan, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind, said: “We are so grateful to the employees at Allianz for their hard work and dedication to the Stronger Together challenge. The money they have raised will allow us to continue providing our vital services such as Mind’s Infoline, which provides confidential information and advice on mental health, and the campaigning we do to get a better deal for the one in four of us experiencing a mental health problem each year. From everyone at Mind, thank you.”
