There are some things about you and your car that you need to check

It’s important that you also give your policy documents a read, to make sure you understand everything. If you're not sure about what this means for you, get in touch. Try web chat below or give us a call.

You and other drivers

You need to make sure you and any other drivers:

  • are 28 or over when the cover starts
  • have lived in Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for the last two years
  • haven't been turned down for car insurance, had it cancelled or been asked to pay extra or had cover reduced by an insurer
  • haven't been convicted of any criminal convictions that are not spent. This doesn't include driving offences.
  • don't have any criminal prosecutions pending
  • have told the DVLA (or the DVA Northern Ireland) about any medical conditions – and the DVLA (DVANI) has said it's still ok to drive.

Your car

You need to make sure your car:

  • is owned or leased by you, your spouse or civil partner
  • is registered by you, your spouse or civil partner, or a lease hire company
  • is a UK model, made to be driven in the UK
  • hasn't been adapted or changed at all (including wheels, suspension, bodywork and engine). You don’t need to tell us about changes to high level brake lights, security equipment, sunroof or a tow bar or changes to allow for a disability in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
  • is kept at the address you give us
  • hasn’t been written off
  • is taxed and registered in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, with an up-to-date MOT certificate
  • doesn't have more than seven seats, including the driver's seat
  • has more than three wheels
  • isn’t a van, commercial vehicle or motor caravan
  • is only used in the way you tell us you'll use it
  • is not used with or for the motor trade or commercial travelling
  • is not hired out or used like a paid taxi
  • is not used for racing, speed testing, competitions, rallies or on track days.
