Actuarial Summer Internship

Our actuaries are at the heart of what we do. They influence every decision we make – from how much to charge for a single policy to how much to pay for a potential acquisition. Their technical expertise, unique perspective and commercial awareness are relied upon by other teams and are critical to our overall success.

The internship will involve a mix of project work and operational tasks and past interns have been involved in areas such as conducting reserving exercises for personal lines portfolios and running sensitivity tests for the capital model.

What we look for:

  • On course for a 2:1 or above in a numerate or business related degree
  • A level Maths at grade A or above (or equivalent)
  • Valid work permit for permanent work in the UK without restrictions after graduation

Insurance Claims Summer Internship

As part of your internship you’ll have the opportunity to gain an insight into the many different teams within our claims business. You will work alongside managers on projects which are business critical; this may involve moving between head office and the other claims handling centres. The projects you will work on could range from research and analysis projects to looking for ways to reduce claims spend. You’ll gain exposure to some of the experts used in the industry for claims investigations such as solicitors, claims investigators and loss adjustors just to name a few.

What we look for:

  • Penultimate or final year of honour degree in any discipline
  • On target for a 2:1 level or above
  • Valid work permit for permanent work in the UK without restrictions after graduation

Underwriting Summer Internship

Fancy getting a taste of working for a leading insurer? Fancy experiencing what our underwriters do on a daily basis? And getting paid for it all too? Our underwriting summer internships are a brilliant chance to get some practical experience and help you make more informed decisions about your future career. As one of our underwriting summer interns you’ll be working at the very heart of our business -where we evaluate risks so we can choose if, how, when and at what premium we’ll insure. This internship offers you the opportunity to work closely with underwriters at the very top of their specialist field. You’ll quickly develop an understanding of how to approach the evaluation of risks, as well as how to foster strong relationships with our broker clients. You’ll have the opportunity to develop a range of technical, commercial and leadership skills that are vital to your development and the business.

Finance Summer Internship

In a company with a strong financial performance like ours, it’s safe to say that our Finance team has their work cut out for them. As a Finance Summer Intern you’ll work in a dynamic and friendly team spread across three key areas: Core Accounting (Accounts Payable, Cashiers or Management Accounts), Financial Accounting (within a Business Division) and other Accounting (Internal Audit, Tax or Group Accounts) at our head office in Guildford.

You’ll spend 9 weeks with us, working on exciting challenges and gaining hands-on, hard-to-beat experience from day one. As well as getting stuck into a stimulating range of corporate and trading accounts, you’ll get a chance to apply your technical know-how to real business problems.

What we look for:

  • On course for a 2:1 or above in a numerate or business related degree

Operations Summer Internship

Our Operations function plays a vital role in adapting Allianz to the modern working environment especially when it comes to our IT systems, facilities and operational efficiency. Operations function forms the foundation of our business and has a wide and varied choice of careers, from front facing Customer Service to MI Analysis, Operational Management Support and Business Change. We’ll give you real ownership of challenging tasks and you’ll leave knowing you’ve really contributed to our goals. This internship offers you the opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders and to understand how insurance business operations from within.

This coupled with amazing support from your Line Manager and the rest of the team, you’ll be part of something big from day one. Our nine week internship in Operations offers an insight into the diverse and fast-paced role that interacts with every other division of the business.

What we look for:

  • Penultimate or final year of studies in honours degree of any discipline
  • On target for a 2:1 level or above
  • Valid work permit for permanent work in the UK without restrictions after graduation
