Saracens vs Worcester Warriors 15.04.13

Posted on: 09 September 2014

A home Premiership semi-final at Allianz Park beckons as Saracens eased past Worcester Warriors yesterday in a 30-point victory.

Winger David Strettle broke the Premiership record for the fastest hat-trick from the start of a match, scoring an electric treble of tries within the first 22 minutes.

The Warriors never recovered from the initial onslaught, as Chris Ashton continued his emphatic return to form with a try and Carlos Nieto also crossed the whitewash in a convincing performance of excellent running rugby from the Men in Black.

And in the absence of Owen Farrell (who along with other international stars was rested for this game) Charlie Hodgson was reliable as ever, providing the conversions to pile on the points for Saracens and ultimately secure a Premiership semi-final at home.

Saracens will relish the chance to play their biggest game yet at Allianz Park. Director of Rugby Mark McCall was more than happy with his team’s performance and emphasised the squad’s strength in depth.

‘After a big game last weekend, we made 9 changes to the starting team – it says something about the depth of the squad and the quality of the group we’ve got,’ he said.

‘We certainly enjoy playing here, the results are going well here, and it’s great to secure a semi-final at home.’
