London Irish vs Saracens 09.02.13
Posted on: 09 September 2014
Saracens suffered their third loss of the 2012/13 Premiership campaign on Saturday after they went down, 29-16, to London Irish.
It was Sarries first defeat in nine matches, who now find themselves three points off new table toppers Leicester Tigers in third position.
Despite 11 points from Charlie Hodgson and a try from David Strettle, Saracens had no answer to the hosts’ physicality and incisiveness and were often uncharacteristically guilty of making poor errors.
Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall said: "We were well beaten today with full credit to Irish, as they put us under a lot of pressure.
"I am very disappointed that when we were chasing the game there was a lot of poor decision making. We had a good team out and didn't lack effort but there were too many mistakes and poor choices.
"There were few positives to take from the game, David Strettle was very busy and scored our try and our young loosehead Nick Auterac performed with credit but little else.
"However we don't have many bad performances and have a good record with 19 wins from 24 games this season."
Saracens will look to get back to winning ways when they host Exeter Chiefs for their first Premiership match at Allianz Park on Saturday.
