  • Success at BIBA 2011

BIBA 2011Allianz's approach to this year's BIBA conference was embracing the concept that 'knowledge is power' and our stand focused on the idea that by 'knowing more we can achieve more'. The stand was designed with designed with our brokers in mind, allowing people to stop by the stand, take a break and relax and talk to our senior leadership team in a comfortable atmosphere.

The Allianz stand attracted a lot of interest, particularly with the arrival of our very special Team Allianz guests, Rebecca Romero and Andy Hodge. The athletes were warmly received by both delegates and exhibitors with many brokers stopping by the stand to meet the athlete's. Many delegates stopped by to compete on our Batak wall and on our interactive sports quiz where they could test their physical and mental ability and speed of response against others, including Rebecca Romero!

Brokers were able to download a QR reader and gain access to exclusive information on our range of products and services. For more information please visit www.allianzretail.co.uk

  • Using the internet to grow your business

Many brokers are aware that marketing their business is a vital discipline and the digital marketing area can provide an opportunity for brokers to have more consistent communication opportunities with clients and prospects. Check out our tips on how to use the digital space to promote your business.

    Use social networking media

Your business can use social media to build your network.

    • Social media creates connections between people
    • You can search for people you know and 'add' them as friends
    • Your network can include current and former colleagues, friends and clients.

It all depends on who you want to communicate with and who is using that social media platform.

The most well-known business-focused social network is LinkedIn. Facebook and Twitter (www.twitter.com) are widely used by small businesses to engage with customers.

Keep up with the competition through research

It is easy to find out about your competitors online, use the following quick tips to gain advantage over your competitors:

    • Check your main competitor's website regularly
    • Remember to sign up to any newsletter they offer
    • Search blogs, forums and social media to see if they are mentioned
    • Careful searching may allow you to identify some of a competitor's clients
    • You could then get your sales team to target them with special deals
    • Careful searching may allow you to identify some of a competitor's clients
    • Sites like Alexa with give you indicative traffic levels for a competitor's website.

    Using search engines

Search engines are the main way people find information online.

There are some basic search operators which can produce a more specific set of results.

    • Search operators tell the search engine to narrow or broaden the search
    • For instance, if you enter a search term in quotes ("), most search engines will only return pages which contain the exact term
    • Putting a plus sign (+) in front of a word usually tells the search engine that all results must contain that word.

Similarly, a minus sign (-) means pages containing that term will be excluded.

Each search engine will list its search operators in the help section. For more in-depth information about visitors to a competing site, you could consider purchasing data from a company like Hitwise.

In the insurance market, few brokerages have adopted a digital marketing strategy. With the field completely open, whichever broker takes the initiative here will have the edge – so why not make that broker you?

  • Team partnership with MercedesGP Petronas Formula One™ Team

Allianz has announced its new partnership with the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One™ Team which includes the branding of the Official Formula One™ Safety Car and Medical Car, both of which are provided by Mercedes-Benz.

The partnership underlines Allianz' commitment to road safety, FormulaOne™ and the automotive industry.

Raised awareness leads to safer driving, which means less injuries and loss of life on the roads,

    says Andrew Torrance.

In Britain alone, there were 2,222 people killed on roads in 2009 and more than 222,000 reported casualties of all severities. As a global insurer of more than 50 million cars, Allianz has a significant interest in reducing the frequency and severity of accidents. Allianz, in its Formula One™ partnership, can create links between the safety of Formula One™ drivers and the everyday safety of drivers worldwide.

No one had branded the Safety and Medical Cars before Allianz did," says Andrew. "This visible commitment to road safety is very important to us as a signal to our 75 million customers all around the world.

Allianz has been a partner of Formula One™ since 2000. Most recently, it was partnering with AT&T Williams. This successful partnership ended in 2010.
