Managing risks and opportunities has been Allianz’s primary mission since 1890. Climate change poses new risks and opportunities that must be managed and captured.

Weather-related damage to property, infrastructure and other physical assets has been rising for many years. This costs the insurance industry billions each year in claims settlements and, with rising global temperatures predicted to cause more extreme weather events, this is predicted to increase.

However climate change also offers opportunities for new risk transfer mechanisms and new technologies to tackle climate change.
