Allianz supports work to set and achieve national and global emissions reduction targets. Ahead of the UN Climate Summit in Cancun in December 2010, Allianz Chief Executive, Andrew Torrance, in his capacity as ClimateWise Chairman, sent a letter to UNFCCC8 negotiators on behalf of all ClimateWise members. The letter renewed the call ClimateWise made before the Copenhagen Summit, for greater emissions reductions at national and global levels.

To minimise the risk of dangerous climate change, ClimateWise is calling for a 40% emissions reduction by 2020 over 1990 levels for developed countries, with a substantial reduction for major developing countries, and an 85% global emissions reduction by 2050 over 2000 levels.
