In 2008 we introduced a new recycling scheme at all our locations, following successful trials at our Guildford and Bristol offices. The new scheme allows employees to recycle paper, plastic cups, aluminium cans and plastic bottles.*

The new scheme has significantly reduced the amount of waste that we send to landfill as we now recycle 53% of the waste we generate (in 2009). However, prior to 2009, we had been unable to accurately measure the total amount of waste generated, so it is therefore not possible to provide year-to-year comparisons for these figures.

Paper

Paper consumption increased by 18% in 2009, due to initiatives such as Animal Health's new magazine. However, across divisions, the number of new policies issued electronically has increased, avoiding paper use. 

Water

The decrease in water consumption is mainly due to water saving devices being fitted in our Guilford and London offices.
