Underwriting is a core skill, fundamental to any insurance business, so at Allianz Insurance, we take our graduate training in this area very seriously, ensuring we have a pool of talent to call on and that you have all the skills you need to get the most out of your career. Only by minimising risk and maximising profit, can we continue to grow and succeed. That’s what Underwriting is all about.

Our award short-listed scheme sits within our Commercial division and is designed to give you both hands-on practical experience and focused technical know-how of the main classes of commercial underwriting. After a thorough induction when you first start, you’ll spend the next two years developing your skills as part of a specialist team working in one of our regional branches. This will include honing your relationship management abilities - something which is crucial to our success as you deal with key brokers.

When it comes to support, we like to make sure we’ve got everything covered, which is why, in addition to the guidance you’ll receive from your line manager and mentor, you’ll also have a wider network to call on. We allocate a business owner and member of the HR team to look after you and we’ll put you in touch with the other graduates across all the schemes we run so you can share your experiences with your peers.

You’ll attend regular workshops to help consolidate the broad knowledge you’re gaining, whilst working towards your professional qualifications. Our award winning Underwriting Academy is renowned in the industry and will support you in achieving your Advanced Diploma In Insurance (ACII).

The core skills which you have gained in Underwriting will set you in excellent stead for your progression through the business, with a diverse range of specialist technical, sales and operational paths to choose from. Because we think, once you’ve finished your graduate scheme, your future’s only just starting. Which is why, once you’ve qualified, there’ll be opportunity to take part in the Company’s wider Talent Management activity, so you can build on your knowledge and progress as far as you’d like to go.
