IT touches every single part of our business and without it, we’d be nowhere, so you’ll be working at the heart of all that we do. As a large global organisation we deal with some of the most cutting edge technologies in the market and keeping on top of, not just the maintenance of healthy systems, but also the possibilities for the future, is an ever-evolving challenge. One that, with the best graduates on board, we know we can meet.

The graduate scheme has been carefully designed to maximise the opportunities for you, so you can make the most of your future. This will mean lots of challenges, hard work and plenty of personal contribution, including:

  • Demonstrating your ability to be proactive and self motivated.
  • Becoming fully integrated into an IT team and adding value through the work you deliver.
  • Producing a tailored personal development plan with your IT Resource Manager, which focuses on both technical and soft skills training.
  • Understanding the IT structure and how it fits with Allianz as a whole, and how we operate an off-shore IT function. This may involve; a placement, time spent at a branch location, overviews of relevant business areas and work in service departments which work alongside IT.
  • Developing your IT specific skills and knowledge, taking on business analyst, project manager and systems analyst roles through the course of your training.
  • Applying your knowledge by using your understanding of the various Allianz IT systems to positively impact and improve the business.
  • Completing a course of study and a series of exams to achieve the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certificate of Insurance.

We pride ourselves on having a strong IT team and from day one, we make sure you’ve all the help you need. When it comes to support, we like to make sure we’ve got everything covered, which is why in addition to the guidance you’ll receive from your IT Resource Manager (who’ll meet with you regularly to review your progress) you’ll also be assigned a Project Manager, whom you’ll report to and who will be on hand to help.

You’ll also liaise with a mentor who’ll coach, develop and guide you through your programme, a Senior Manager, who’ll review your progress bi-monthly and an HR Advisor who’ll keep an eye on your wellbeing throughout. We’ll also put you in touch with other graduates across all the schemes we run, so you can share all of your experiences with your peers.

You’ll normally be asked to take part in a minimum of four projects over the course of your programme, which will give you the opportunity to work within different parts of the company. The time spent on each project will vary depending on the nature of the work you’re undertaking and current business situation and direction. The maximum period for a project will be one year. You’ll either be in an IT specific, business or corporate business analysis team and you may also be given the chance to spend time working in India.

At Allianz, we operate a ‘grade’ structure which indicates the seniority and complexity of specific roles and at the end of the programme you’ll be put forward for a permanent role.

However, this depends on the business needs at that time.

The development each IT graduate undertakes is related to the job roles and projects that they undertake throughout the two years.
  • The IT graduates are expected to achieve the Diploma in Insurance, a professional qualification offered by the Chartered Insurance Institute. The type of training undertaken will be varied and will include workshops, one to one training and will also include an element of self study.
  • IT has a Professional Development Framework which provides a career path for the different IT professions e.g. Business Analysis, Project Management, Technical.
  • During the IT graduate scheme you will enjoy placements in each of these professions. The framework includes the various qualifications and training required to enable you to progress in your career.

19. How long will it take to gain a professional qualification?
