“I was already working for Allianz when I heard about the graduate scheme. I was talking to a colleague when they mentioned all the possible training on offer. I jumped at the chance. Since then I’ve worked on a huge variety of projects, including MIS reports, Awareness Campaigns, Process Enhancements and Training. I also co-ordinate strategic dialogue between Allianz UK IT and our parent company.

The amount of early responsibility I’ve been given is a really good indicator of the attitude towards graduates here - they really value you and want to harness all that energy, enthusiasm and talent.
I’ve had to adapt pretty quickly to various challenges, so I’d say flexibility is a key asset here - a steep learning curve comes hand-in-hand with the trust they place in you to deliver. You really are an integral part of the business from day one. Overall, I feel like I’ve gained a really good overview of not just technology but also of the business structure as a whole and where IT fits within it. External qualifications are also encouraged and supported, which is great as these are transferable skills you can use throughout your career.

After a hard day at work, we regularly socialise together. You often hear about events participated in during spare time - mine was winning a silver medal in the Tae Kwon Do championships in London - that was a great feeling - one of real achievement, something which I think you’ll almost certainly feel here as a graduate trainee.”
